The brand
Applegreen is a well established Irish company operating in the forecourt business with more than 620 service stations across Ireland, UK and US. Together with its refuelling services, it focuses particularly at delivering to its customers high quality food and drinks, partnering with brands such as The Bakewell, Burger King, Lavazza, Braeburn, Subway, Freshii and Bueno. It also offers a wide range of products in its stores like confectionery, crisps, minerals and groceries, as well as non-food items like solid fuels, car accessories and toys.
A multidisciplinary expercience
I started my experience at Applegreen as an intern graphic/web designer for the fuelcard department. Through this experience I had the chance to develop a fully coded responsive website and create printed promotional artwork. I was then offered a full time position within the marketing department, where I contributed to develop nationwide promotional campaigns through print and digital assets, digital animations and illustrations, seasonal coffee, cup designs product catalogues, food packaging and in-store promotional artwork.
Projects showcase
Digital Screens
Digital screens were the most impactful way to display the items sold in each store that had a food offering. Food promotions were updated very often, so they had to be created in time to reach the customers. These included standalone products, menus or limited time only offers.
Campaigns
Every year a calendar of campaigns was set to take place to push sales and promote a specific service or product. My core responsibility was to prepare all the assets necessary for print, screens and social.
Seasonal Items
Every year Applegreen released a Christmas themed coffee cup. This was a super fun project to work on, and I was given wide freedom in the creation of illustrated characters and then animate them into Christmas e-cards to send to suppliers or post on social media.
